tapis rouge

Intervention carried out on 24 and 25 March 2011 in Paris (France) in various locations in the city.

This intervention, carried out without authorization, consisted of rolling out a ceremonial red carpet, ten meters long and one meter wide, at six characteristic locations in the city of Paris, and then capturing the image in the form of photographs.

Diverting the dimension of prestige and exclusivity associated with the red carpet, my intention was, through the discrepancy resulting from the common character of the places used for the intervention (sanisette Place de Clichy, pissotière on Boulevard Arago, bourgeois cellar of the Montmartre cemetery, etc.), to raise questions about the representation of power, the official character and the institutional legitimacy conveyed through this device.

This intervention was the subject of inkjet prints on paper of six photos (two photos in 42 x 62 cm format and four photos in 42 x 32 cm format) presented in particular during the 19th International Biennial of the Image of Nancy from 7 to 22 May 2016.
